Overview

Purpose

How much do you know about sharks besides being scary fish with teeth? I want people to learn more about what makes sharks so cool! Sharks are being over-fished constantly and I want to show others how cool these fish are so that in the future they may invest into conservation efforts. With my web design knowledge, I am going to present the super cool and unique things about sharks on this website! I will make the site very engaging and even give information on conservation efforts for if the user wishes to learn more. My feedback from my three roommates was all very similar. That it gets the message across and that they wish I explained how I would make it interesting enough for people to donate and bring awareness to the mentioned conservation efforts.

Audience

My audience is for many. My intended audience is very vast. Including your everyday person, young people such as teenagers and young adults, legal adults, and especially those with political power. Any person that wants to learn more about sharks and also people who want to learn how to help them.

People will come to this site to learn about the different kinds of sharks! The family of sharks is very diverse and has many unique members. Such unique members include the whale shark, the largest fish in the sea! The famous Great White Shark growing to over 20 feet long and being a common shark to want to visit in shark cages.

Visitors can expect to have questions about the diversity of shark and basic but super cool and unique things about sharks. Visitors can also find out how to donate and help the conservation of sharks and their importance to the ecosystem.

Visitors can participate in activities that include learning about sharks, learning how to help protect them, and why we need to protect them.

Information that visitors will need to complete any actions on my site will be taught and explained to them on our site.

Visitors will come to my site instead of others because I have all the basic information on one site while others are spread throughout a few sites.

I am hoping to also try to add many links to places where users may be able to find more information on specific species, specific adaptations sharks have developed and sites that just add to the information I will have provided. I want people to learn more about these amazing creatures so that we can make sure they continue to thrive and that the fear of them may hopefully diminish. There is still much to learn about sharks and with the overfishing that is being done for sharks and their fins, we may not be able to learn all that there is about sharks. Sharks are extremely diverse and well-adapted creatures. Some can be considered apex predators. Others are less threatening and are no threat to humans or anything larger than a human hand. Some go and hunt their pray while others sit and wait. Some sharks eat fish, some eat seals and some even eat krill along with tiny fish. Sharks have teeth that replace themselves throughout their lives infinitely. They have electroreceptors that are able to detect the heart beat of fish along with their movements. They also have a lateral line which is capable of detecting changes in water pressure which can indicate movement that the shark may not have been able to see. Sharks also have rough skin. If you were to look at the skin through a microscope you would be able to see that the skin looks like it has rear facing teeth. This would make the shark skin feel normal when you were to brush it from front to back but feel similar to a cat's tongue when brushing from back to front, though it is sharper. Some sharks can never stop moving. Their gills are only able to work when they are moving which would push the water through the gills alowing the shark to breathe. Other sharks though, like the shite tip reef shark are able to lay on their stomachs and push the water through their gills without needing to move at all.
